Rules + Photo Requirements
Enter by submitting a valid digital photo on this site. Valid entries must be in color, with a horizontal/landscape layout (or able to be cropped to that) and contain ONLY animals, no people. Animals must be portrayed in a humane, loving manner (e.g., no prong collars etc).
Entrant must be able to provide the same photo at a size and resolution that will result in a quality print in the calendar. For winning entries (i.e., the top photos as described below), photos must be well-focused, sharp images that are a minimum 300 dpi at an 8.5" x 11" horizontal size and in JPEG/JPG or TIFF format.
The top six (6) dog photos, the top six (6) cat photos and the top one (1) other animal photo with the most votes will win featured month/cover spots in the calendar, as long as they comply with the rules.
HSHV reserves the right to reject or refuse photos that do not comply with the rules or for reasons unstated.
With your photo entry donation of $30, you are eligible for a free 2027 calendar when they're ready in December 2026. It will be held at HSHV's front adoptions desk for you to pick up (3100 Cherry Hill Rd, Ann Arbor). If you are unable to pick up, please contact us for shipping options: communications@hshv.org
While you may enter as many times as you like, HSHV reserves the right to limit the number of animals from any one home featured in the calendar, in order to best serve the most number of people and animals.
By submitting a photo, you certify that you are the owner of that photo and that you grant the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) to use that photo free of charge and free of restrictions for marketing purposes including printing in HSHV's 2027 calendar. Or, if your entry was taken by a professional photographer or commercial studio, you must have a signed copyright release.
Photos submitted become the property of HSHV and may be used and/or altered for the 2027 calendar and/or for other fundraising efforts.
Contest ends at midnight, August 12, 2026.
